Saffron Basmati Rice Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup basmati rice
- 2 cups water or broth
- Generous pinch of saffron strands
- 2 tablespoons warm water
- 1 tablespoon ghee or butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
- Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for 20 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a small bowl, soak the saffron strands in 2 tablespoons of warm water for 5 minutes.
- Heat ghee or butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the rice and sauté for 1–2 minutes to coat it evenly.
- Add 2 cups of water or broth and salt, then pour in the saffron mixture. Stir gently.
- Bring the rice to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and cook for 15 minutes until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.
