Saffron Basmati Rice Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 2 cups water or broth
  • Generous pinch of saffron strands
  • 2 tablespoons warm water
  • 1 tablespoon ghee or butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for 20 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, soak the saffron strands in 2 tablespoons of warm water for 5 minutes.
  3. Heat ghee or butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the rice and sauté for 1–2 minutes to coat it evenly.
  4. Add 2 cups of water or broth and salt, then pour in the saffron mixture. Stir gently.
  5. Bring the rice to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and cook for 15 minutes until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
  6. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.
